The Mall

One hot summer day in Miami, Lily and her friend Layla went to the mall. Layla has been her best friend since they were 5 years old. They made promises to each other to be best friends forever. At the mall, they were looking around, when they finally found Clare’s.

Layla says, “I wanna go to Clares.”

Lily responds, “Actually I’m going to the Old Navy.”

“Okay, I will meet you there later,” said Layla.

It's getting late and Lily starts to wonder where Layla might be. She decides to visit one more store, H & M. After 2 hours pass, Lily realizes she lost her friend in the biggest mall, the Outlet Mall!

Lily continues to look for her friend for another half hour. It feels like she has looked in every store. It would have been so much easier if her phone didn’t die and figures Layla is probably calling her.

She walks over to the food court and thinks that maybe the salty smell of the french fry truck might have lured her friend who absolutely loves to eat a fresh plate of fries with ketchup. She looks around for a girl about 5 foot 2, wearing a purple crop top, navy blue ripped jeans, and brownish hair with highlights. Nothing. “Ugh,” she sighs, “Where could she be?”
