Project Hammers Home Real Life Lessons - St. Catharines Standard

Port Dalhousie Garbage BinsStudents in the construction technology program at Holy Cross are getting some real world experience and at the same time improving the streetscape of their hometown.

The young carpenters have taken unsightly garbage cans that dotted the tourist area in Port Dalhousie and transformed them into something better - by building decorative wooden enclosures. The project started in response to a query by the Port Dalhousie Beautification and Works Committee.

"It is truly a win win-win-win project for all concerned - the residents and visitors to Port, the students of Holy Cross, and the City of St. Catharines." said Mike Slate of the Port Dalhousie committee. INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURES

When transportation services are cancelled, and only the school remains open, it is the responsibility of the parent to determine whether or not it is safe for your child to attend school.

On these days parents/guardians of students who normally ride the bus are to report, using the electronic Safe Arrival program, their children as absent if they are not sending them to school. It is only if the schools are closed, by the Director of Education, due to inclement weather or any other reason that student absences do not need to be reported.

IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER, LISTEN TO YOUR LOCAL RADIO STATION 105.7 FM 610 AM AND 97.7 FM FOR ANNOUNCEMENTS! Check Niagara Catholic District School Board website at www.niagaracatholic.ca
